- Don't focus on modules or inverters but on complete the system (= modules + inverters + cables). With a wrong configuration you loose a lot of efficiency
- Ask for references (and don't hesitate to check them out) of the inverter installer
- Read the warranty contract very carefully
- Ask your installer how the after sales is organized (and let them put that on paper)
- Do they offer a service and maintenance contract
- Try to find out or they are still there if you have a warranty issue in 10 years or how they secure warranty obligations in the future
Although you make a valid point at the same time it is very important to understand the total cost of the power inverter system and prescribing the best solution using all the components to meet the requirements of the farm. Every site is different hence the total balance of systems cost needs to be a primary focus in the success of the power inverter project.
